One of the most profilic underground dance music artist that loomed from the island of Malta, DJ Ruby will perform for the first time on Friday, July 16th in Barutana.
He managed to gather a huge fan base, as well as to become an established name in the world dance music industry, mostly on the progressive scene.
Renowned for delivering flawless journey sets and a positive party vibe, where ever he performs, DJ Ruby is considered a true pioneer of his caliber and he can boasts over 20 years of experience that has obtained him countless achievements and acclaim, which are impossible to mention all in a few lines.
An active career that started in the early 90’s, and still going strong to date, saw DJ Ruby being featured at Malta’s most notable dance events, opening for many of the world’s legendary names such as Faithless, The Prodigy, Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, Sven Vath, Nick Warren, Steve Lawler, and Dave Seaman.
Over the years, DJ Ruby’s diary has formed to be more like an atlas, performing regularly in clubs all over the world; India, Ibiza, Mexico, Russia, Germany, Egypt, Jordan, Netherlands, Thailand, Australia, Italy, Dubai, USA & Hong Kong, just to name a very few. He was also included in the line-ups of notorious festivals such as Timewarp, Ozora, Transmission, Berlin’s Love Parade, Creamfields Malta, and Tomorrowland Unite. As a music producer, DJ Ruby holds a vast discography of his own productions, remixes and 2 albums. Many of his tracks were supported by the planet’s leading DJs, and also made it into the charts of multiple digital outlets such as Beatport and Traxsource.
As a promoter, in recent years he managed to make the progressive house scene bloom again in Malta. This is mostly thanks to his yearly warehouse event project partnership with Guy J, the Secret Series, Open to Close shows and the regular Ruby & friends which already featured respected players such as Cid Inc, Stereo Underground, Jeremy Olander, Miss Monique, Subandrio, Golan Zocher & Emi Galvan.
With an impressive biography that can be nearly infinite, DJ Ruby has earned a well-deserved reputation that can be only summarised into one word: legend!
At his first performance, two great DJ’s will jouin him as local support:
Lukai (Beograd) His first contact with electronic music made through drum’n’bass, under the great influence of the British team LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Big Bud. During the nights spent in clubbing, he discovered the power of techno and progressive music, which had a strong influence on the formation of his musical taste. He found his place behind the DJ booth in 2012, when he started organizing Belgrade Lounge parties. Two club seasons later, Lukai started to accelerate and got frequent bookings, where he played alongside world names such as: Henry Saiz, Guy J, Cid Inc, Nick Warren, Dmitry Molosh, Petar Dundov and others.
Antela (Niš) For him, DJing was a natural consequence of the circumstances of his desire to share music with the people around him. Over the years, genres have changed, touring the entire spectrum from ambience to psytrance. In that search, three things remained key: emotion, melody, dynamics.
At the end of 2017, as a law graduate, he found more time to dedicate to music. Then he started with his first performances in Nis bars, and a year later he started production. The fruit of his work are performances outside his city and publications in both domestic and foreign publishing houses. The result of his work was also noted by Hernan Cattaneo, who twice included a remix of his track ”Deep Within” in the weekly Resident podcast he hosts. He is a participant in the second edition of the Let’s mix it competition (2021), where he marked placement in the semifinals.
